Seldom do we “common people” get to interact with greatness. Lester Pritchard was our hero; a leader and a visionary for people with disabilities. His greatness allowed us to look to the future with hope and daring. Lester passed away Monday, October 12, 2009, leaving a gaping hole in our hearts and our advocacy.

Lester was the co-founder of the Illinois Campaign for Real Choice, the Chairperson of the Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities, and the 2008 recipient of the prestigious Paul G. Hearne Award from the American Bar Association Commission on Mental and Physical Disability Law (http://www.abanet.org/disability/docs/08hearnepressrelease.pdf).

The mission of the Family Support Network is to unify individuals with disabilities and their families to advocate for funding, services, and community resources that strengthen and support the individual and the family directly by responding to their individual needs and empowering them to live in their own homes. The Family Support Network further seeks to ensure the continuation of all individual supports throughout the life span of the individual.
